Alisson Becker:
- 32 years old
- Contract expires 2027
Best in the world. No reason to change him out, unless he is looking for a change. Can probably be our number 1 for 5 more years if he wants to. Has been injured more than we would like for a couple of seasons now, but not concerning. The signing of Mamardashvili gives doubts about his long-term future at Anfield.
Caomin Kelleher:
- 26 years old
- Contract expires 2026
To good to be a back up goal keeper. Would most likely start for 10-15 other PL sides. Has stepped in for Ali when he has been out, and done an amazing job. Has gained interest from other clubs, but was more or less forced to stay over the summer. Next summer, he will definitely get his deserved move to a PL side where he can be a number 1. In a parallell universe, he would probably be a starter for LFC, but the signing of Mamardashvili makes us certain that Kelleher will leave in the summer.
Giorgi Mamardashvili:
- 24 years old
- Contract expires 2030 (reportedly)
One of the biggest GK talents in the world. Highest market value of all GK according to transfermarkt.com (take it for what it is), gives us an indication that this is great future planning from LFC. As good of a signing as this is, with Alisson as our number one, how will this play out? A realistic scenario is that he will be our number 2 for 2025/26 season, but then take over as the number one, with Ali moving on. I doubt that he has signed to be a backup for several years, as he most likely had other lucrative offers elsewhere.
Vitezslav Jaors:
- 23 years old
- Contract expires 2025
3rd choice keeper from the academy. Looked solid when he got the chance. Homegrown is a positive. Maybe he will stay on as a backup or move elsewhere, not sure.
Conclusion:
The goal keeper situation is one to keep an eye on. Kelleher seems certain to be moving on in the summer, and it will be interesting how the number one position will play out. I highly doubt that either one of them will be willing to sit on the bench, unless that is a part of the agreement with Mamardashvili. As good as Giorgi looks, I still see Ali as the best goalie in the world, and doubt that that will change for several years, with GKs usually having a longer career in mind.
